Often times, when we think about NSBE 2025, we consider it to be a separate goal/initiative from our mission. However, I believe it’s an aspirational goal that pushes us to live our mission to the fullest. Imagine a world where we’ve been graduating at least 10,000 Black engineers annually for many years. NSBE exists because, as a Black STEM community, we are no longer accepting unlevel playing fields, unequal representation, and inequitable treatment/policies. This year we will continue to leverage our 2020 vision to clearly see what’s most important and FOCUS on that. To me, F.O.C.U.S. means Family, Opportunities, Commitment, Unity, and Servant leadership. As your National Chair, I’ve led the Strategic Planning Task Force (SPTF) where we have made major progress to deliver a comprehensive 3-year execution plan for our society. This collaborative effort, grounded in membership/stakeholder feedback, focuses on early STEM engagement for black youth, retention, and a clear direction on how everyone can participate. If re-elected, I plan to continue to lead our society with purpose, leverage the NSBE ecosystem, and secure the future of NSBE by:
-
Further developing and executing on this plan
-
Enhancing NSBE’s technical infrastructure & website
-
FOCUSing on membership/stakeholder feedback and concerns
